The new year is off to a great start, with a full list and packed house both this week and last!
Excitement was high on the line last week as old friends met and noted how much they missed each other and the event, and new players were welcomed and befriended.
The fact that Trent Boeschen was in to play drums with all comers (he’s at the open mic about once a month; the weekly announcement will let you know which week) invigorated everyone’s music, and Trent was just plain on fire! His sets with Nick Guzman and Patrick McCauley were epic!

It was a Gyasi Ross night; his feature moved the crowd mightily, and his style of rhythmic, jazz-infused acoustic guitar singer/songwriter music was well-represented both weeks by players like Peter Chung, Jean Marc, Ellisa Hammersla, newcomer Wesley Woo (this week backed by harmony singers Hyejin Yu and Jenna, who promises to make her RDL debut next time, and by Ricardo on shaker) and others.

This week, Dane Ohri had a feather in his cap (literally) as the featured performer, with beautiful songs in the folk-rock/indie idiom plied by writer/players like Thunderegg, Mario Di Sandro, Gary Adler, Alex Jimenez, Jeff Desira (“When I Let Go”) and Donovan Plant (with singer Sam Whitehouse on “San Francisco.”)
Gumbo Dave was in both weeks with his wonderful stuffed bread, the Jameson and a beer special was on, and the
ceremonial lighting of the fourth disco ball was celebrated by the host who keeps it all happening, KC Turner
(Did you know that KC hosts a music community coffee every Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at Crepes on Cole, 100 Carl Street in San Francisco? It’s a good time and place to chat about matters of interest to musicians and others involved in music, and a good place outside music venues to hang with your music friends!)
Come share the excitement and fun of this signal SF event, the Red Devil Lounge Open Mic, with us next time when
Courtney Nicole is the featured performer (1/22) and on 1/29, when Brentando
The line forms on Tuesday night!
